Artist's Statement

I am inspired by natural forms, especially plants. I am also intrigued by writing and the range of understanding we have of simple marks on paper. Using letters and script in my work, I ponder the link between the shape of letters and physical phemomena. For instance, the letter "O" is like the shape a mouth makes as it says the letter. The letter "W" suggests the shape of waves in water. In copying text, I explore the visual texture of a written paragraph.
